Detectives have issued CCTV images of a man who could have information that may assist with their enquiries following an assault in a Mossley Hill pub – on the night of the Champions League Final.
At around 10.20pm on Saturday 28 May after the Liverpool and Real Madrid final game, an altercation occurred in the marquee area of the Dovedale Towers pub on Penny Lane where a man was struck in the face by another man and further assaulted.
The victim received treatment from hospital for his injuries and was left very distressed after the ordeal.
The alleged offender left the scene soon after the incident.
CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect responsible, and detectives have issued images of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.
Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “This was a dangerous and reckless attack that has left the victim injured, and such violence like this will never be tolerated on Merseyside.
“This incident took place at a time where it would have been busy with people watching the Champions League Final between Liverpool and Real Madrid who will have seen the altercation take place in the marquee in the garden.
“If you were in the Dovedale Towers at around 22.15pm and witnessed the assault then please get in touch.
"I am also appealing for people to come forward if you recognise the male featured in these images. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
