We have arrested a man and are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision in Speke last night, Monday 22 August.
At around 11.45pm, emergency services were called to Hale Road at the junction with John Lennon Airport access road to reports of a collision involving a Ford Focus and a female pedestrian in her 30s.
The victim has been taken to hospital with head injuries and is described as a in a critical condition. The driver, a 30-year-old man from Speke, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving. He has been taken to a police station and remains in custody.
Detective Sergeant Paul Evans, from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We are supporting the woman’s family as our enquiries continue. We are keen to speak to anyone who saw this incident, may have been passing the location at this time and captured anything on dashcam or other devices. Your information could be vital in establishing what happened so let us know.”
