Class A drugs Warrants.jpg

Our officers visited nine addresses this morning, Wednesday 24 August, as part of an ongoing operation to identify and detain suspects who we believe may be connected to gun crime in the area.

As part of the warrants, a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and possession of an offensive weapon, in connection with the death of 22-year-old Sam Rimmer, who was killed following a firearm discharge in Bootle on the 16 August 2022.

Two men aged 37 and 31 from Liverpool were arrested on suspicion of drug offences.

One man aged 40 from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of the production of Class B drugs after 73 plants were found at a property in Stoneycroft.

A large quantity of Class A drugs were found at a property in Crotexth.

One man aged 53 and one woman aged 57 from Liverpool were arrested on suspicion of drug offences after a large quantity of Class A and Class B drugs were found at a property in the area.

Detective Chief Superintendent and Head of Investigations, Mark Kameen, said: “It has been a tremendously sad time for Merseyside following the recent tragic deaths of four people in our area, including 9-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel on Monday night. We are fully committed to doing all we can to make sure that anyone who engages in serious and violent crime is brought to justice.

“The recent spate of gun and knife crime in Merseyside has understandably shocked our local communities and this completely abhorrent behaviour will not be tolerated.

“I’d urge anyone who has any information, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, to please contact police. We need the public’s help to continue to make our communities a safer place to live and to make sure these criminals are taken off our streets.

“As well as these arrests made, offices also seized a large quantity of drugs from other properties.

“We will continue to carry out these warrants and targeted operations across the region to disrupt the people that we suspect may seek to store, carry and use firearms. We cannot allow these criminals to continue to bring misery to our communities, so again, please keep talking to us and together we can make a difference”.
