Detectives are continuing to appeal for information following an allegation of sexual assault of a young woman in Wirral on Sunday, 14 August.
The incident is believed to have happened on Pine View Drive following a reported house party at around 9.30am.
Detectives investigating the allegations are asking people not to speculate about the incident as further enquiries are carried out.
Officers have arrested a man from Heswall on suspicion of sexual assault on Monday 15 August who was questioned in relation to the matter and has since been released on bail.
Detective Inspector Paul McVeigh said: “An extensive investigation is continuing in the local area.
“I would ask people not to speculate about the circumstances of this incident while this remains a live investigation as it could jeopardise our enquiries and could be hugely distressing for anyone involved.
“Anyone found to be sharing information or commenting on the incident via social media will be investigated by police.
“Instead, I would appeal for anyone who believes they could assist the investigation to contact police as soon as possible.”
Anyone who could assist with enquiries is asked to DM @MerPolCC or
@CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 using reference 22000595412.
