Merseyside Police can confirm that an investigation is being carried out after we received a report of damage to the outer casing of a telephone exchange box.
Officers were contacted shortly before 2pm on Thursday 4 August to Everton Brow, Village Street after reports that two bullet holes were found through the right hand door of a telephone exchange box in the area.
A scene was in place on Everton Brow, Village Street to carry out forensic examinations which has now been removed. Officers are investigating whether the damage is consistent with a firearm having been used and are continuing to speak with the telephone company who reported this incident.
Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to come forward.
Detective Sergeant John Bolton said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident are still at an early stage, as we investigate exactly what happened and ultimately who was responsible.
“I would like to assure the community that an extensive investigation is being carried out and while some weeks have passed since this offence occurred, any information you hold could be vital to our enquiries. If this report jogs your memory and you were on Everton Brow, Village Street when this incident occurred please contact police as soon as possible.”
