Oxton man jailed for multiple thefts

We are welcoming the sentencing of a man from Oxton for a series of thefts, burglary and fraud.

Terrence Griffiths, 53, of Cearns Road, Oxton, was sentenced to 52 weeks imprisonment at Wirral Magistrates Court on Tuesday 22^nd November after pleading guilty to multiple offences.

Over the course of several weeks since 8^th October, Griffiths targeted convenience stores in the Oxton and Claughton areas.

He would steal from retail shops and on other occasions steal victim’s bank cards in order to make purchases.

Detective Sergeant Nick Glascott-Tull said: “I am pleased that this individual will now spend time behind bars for his actions.

“Stealing from retail businesses and members of the public would have caused alarm and distress. I hope this sentencing brings some comfort for businesses in Oxton and Claughton who were plagued by his continued offending.

“We are determined to keep reducing offences and the harm this causes across Merseyside, and we will act on any information we receive.”
