Operation Shepherd

Operation Shepherd is Merseyside Police’s annual campaign to reduce crime and keep communities safe during the festive season.

You can expect to see more officers out and about on the run up to Christmas and into New Year, but there’s much more to it than that. It’s an extensive force-wide operation involving a wide variety of teams, each with their own area of expertise, and they all play a part.

This year, we’d like to show you the work of some of these teams and give you a glimpse into what makes Operation Shepherd happen.

Starting December 1, we’ll count down to Christmas with a video each day that takes you behind the beat, providing you with an insight into how we put our community first in everything we do.
