We are working with licensed venues and partners across Merseyside to help keep people safe when out and about. This could be on a night out, on a date, meeting friends or other situations.
The Ask for Angela scheme aims to reduce sexual violence and vulnerability in licensed premises. People who feel they are in an uncomfortable situation, feel unsafe or threatened due to the behaviour of someone else can discreetly seek help by approaching venue staff and asking them for ‘Angela’. This code-phrase will indicate to staff that they require help with their situation and a trained member of staff will then look to support and assist them. This might be through reuniting them with a friend, seeing them to a taxi, asking the person causing distress to leave the venue or by calling venue security and/or the police.
Call 101 for non-emergency enquiries or to report an incident.
