Detectives are appealing for information following an assault in Croxteth yesterday, Wednesday 10 April.
At 5.45pm, emergency services were called to Altcross Road to reports of a road traffic incident involving an off-road motorbike and a pedal-assisted electric bike.
It is initially believed that the off-road motorcycle rider deliberately pushed the electric bike rider off his vehicle, before making off down Cubert Road.
The rider of the electric bike, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with head and facial injuries. He is in a serious but stable condition.
Witness, house-to-house and CCTV enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Michael Fletcher said: “Our investigation is in its early stages but we believe that this was a deliberate and extremely reckless act, which resulted in serious and potentially life-changing injuries to the electric bike rider.
“We are determined to track down the motorbike rider so if you saw this incident or an off-road motorbike being ridden nearby, or if you live locally and have CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage, please check and come forward as soon as possible, especially if you are a resident of Cubert Road, where the suspect made off.”
