We have issued CCTV images of three males who could have information following an aggravated burglary in Aigburth.

Although their faces are unclear due to the quality of the images, we are hoping that members of the public may recognise their distinctive clothing.

At around 6.30pm on Tuesday 20 February, it was reported that four males had broken into a home on Thistledown Close.

During the incident, the two occupants – a woman aged in her 80s and a man aged in his 50s – were threatened with a reported firearm and a machete.

The intruders left the scene on foot after stealing a pedal bike and emergency services were called.

Thankfully the two victims were unharmed, but they were understandably left extremely distressed by the incident.

Since the incident, officers have carried out house-to-house, CCTV and forensic enquiries in the local area.

As part of an ongoing investigation, we are now releasing CCTV images of three males who could have information.

Detective Constable Louise Armstrong said: “This was a shocking incident in which two people were threatened in their own home by a group of males who were reportedly armed with a firearm and a machete.

“This would have been extremely traumatic for them. Thankfully, incidents such as this are extremely rare, but we are committed to finding the people responsible and bringing them to justice.

“We believe the males pictured could have information to help the ongoing investigation, so if you know who they are, or you are the males pictured, please come forward.

“Although it’s difficult to make out any faces on the CCTV images, we hope that someone may recognise their clothing.

“If you have any information about this incident, or live in the area and have CCTV cameras, please check them to see if you captured anything significant on the evening of Tuesday 20 February.

“Similarly, if you were driving in the area at around the time of the incident, please review your dashcam footage.”

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 24000190422.
