We continue to appeal for information following a stabbing in Liverpool city centre last night, Thursday 22 August.
Officers were contacted at 8.55pm following reports a 21-year-old man had been found on Church Street with injuries to his body consistent with a bladed weapon being used.
It’s believed that the victim was involved in an altercation with around seven young males before the incident occurred.
Emergency services attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Inquiries are ongoing to find the males responsible and witness and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area.
Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher said: “This was a nasty attack that has left a man in a serious condition in hospital.
“The investigation is in the very early stages as we seek to establish what has happened in the lead up to this incident, but we believe there were around seven young males involved.
“If you saw what happened or have any information, please contact us as a matter of urgency.
“Our officers remain relentless in our pursuit to remove any dangerous weapons from our streets and are actively working to make Merseyside a safer place to live and work.
“If you know anything about the storage, movement or use of such weapons, please come forward directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
“What you tell us may lead to other weapons being removed from circulation, and those communities becoming stronger, safer and secure.”
