We have charged a man with drink driving and other offences following an incident in Rock Ferry yesterday, Sunday 1 December.
At around 11.55am, officers sighted a Vauxhall Astra travelling down New Chester Road, reportedly being driven erratically and causing obstructions for other vehicles. Officers requested the vehicle to stop, and a man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, and driving without insurance.
Tomasz Wiecki, 37, of Pearl Drive, Rock Ferry, was charged with Drive a motor vehicle when alcohol level above limit; and Using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance.
Wiecki will next appear at Wirral Guilty Anticipated Plea Court on New Years Eve, Tuesday 31 December.
Matrix Roads Policing Chief Inspector Stuart McIver said: “Tomorrow is our official launch of Operation Limit, during which we will be carrying out extensive work in Merseyside and beyond to target motorists who are unfit to drive through drink or drugs. But whatever the time of year, our officers are always alert to any signs of impaired driving.
“There is no definite way to know whether you’re safe to drive after drinking so don’t take the risk, and leave the car at home. If you don’t, you’re endangering the lives of others on the roads, as well risking your own livelihood and future prospects.”
