We can confirm that officers are in Kirkdale following an incident yesterday evening, Wednesday 11 December.
At around 9.05pm, armed officers were called to Stanley Road to reports of an unconfirmed shooting at a property. No injuries have been reported and it is initially believed that a BB gun was fired.
The firearms incident has been stood down. CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries are ongoing at the scene.
A road closure is in place on Stanley Road from Snowdrop Road to Pansy Road. A diversion is in place down Commercial Road from Orwell Road.
Detective Inspector Debra Morley said: “These are the early stages of our investigation as we seek to establish the circumstances.
“At this point we believe that a BB gun was fired in the street. If you were in the area or live nearby, please check CCTV, dashcam and doorbell devices and come forward as soon as possible.”
