Two men have been arrested in connection with drug offences following a stop search in Birkenhead.
Officers were on patrol yesterday, Tuesday 17 December, when they saw two men on Duke Street with one smoking cannabis and they were stopped searched.
A further search was carried out at an address in Birkenhead and a large quantity of cannabis, scales and plastic bags were discovered.
Two men, aged 22 and 24 years from Birkenhead, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply – Cannabis.
They have been released under investigation.
Neighbourhood Inspector Sharon Robinson said: “This proactive work is to ensure we take offenders supplying drugs off our streets. Any type of drug dealing is a blight on our communities and causes misery to families and often involves the exploitation of vulnerable people.
“Organised crime is hugely damaging to our communities, where drug dealers often use violence and intimidation, and creating fear in neighbourhoods.
“Criminals involved in organised crime have no thought for anyone other than themselves, and their criminal intent and greed.
“Our work to bring these people to justice will continue on a daily basis and I would ask anyone who has information about this kind of activity to come forward so action can be taken.”
If you have concerns about drug dealing in your area you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, call Merseyside Police on 101 or DM @MerpolCC. Always contact 999 if a crime is in progress.
