Woman arrested following discovery of drugs in Sefton

Officers have arrested a woman following the discovery of suspected drugs in Sefton.

Officers were on patrol yesterday, Tuesday 3 December, when they stop checked a black Vauxhall Greenland on Dunningsbridge Road in Aintree and smelt cannabis emanating from the vehicle.

Following a search officers found a box of dog food inside a bag, which contained a large number of blocks of cannabis resin.

A further search at a property was conducted where officers found drug paraphernalia including scales containing white powder and a quantity of suspected cocaine.

A 28-year-old woman from Netherton was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs (cannabis). She has been released under investigation.

Sefton Neighbourhood Inspector Doug Chadwick said: "This proactive work is to ensure we take offenders supplying drugs off our streets. Drug dealing is a blight on our community, causes misery to families and often involves the exploitation of children.

“We are relentless in pursuing those involved in drug dealing and serious and organised criminality across Merseyside.

“Our work to bring these people to justice will continue on a daily basis and I would ask anyone who has information about this kind of activity to come forward so action can be taken.”
