We can confirm that a Section 60 Order has been introduced in the Northwood area of Kirkby.
The Section 60 Orders run from 1pm today, Wednesday 24 July, until 12.59pm tomorrow (Thursday 25 July) and extra officers will be in the area to provide a visible presence to reassure communities.
The Order, under S60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, give officers enhanced stop and search powers to stop individuals in the area and is designed to minimise serious violence.
It has been introduced following incidents of criminal damage to properties in the area in the wake of the murder of Rikki Berry on 17 July and to prevent any further incidents of disorder or criminality.
Chief Inspector Chris Ruane said: “We need the help of our communities to make our streets safer by being our eyes and ears and tell us what they know so that we can take positive action.
“This type of behaviour is not acceptable and we will act on all information provided as to who is responsible.
“People living in Northwood can expect to see a continued and visible police presence and I would ask anyone with concerns to speak to our officers.”
Any person with information about criminality and disorder, is asked to DM @MerPolCC, message ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre on Facebook’ or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111.
You can also pass information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Always call 999 if a crime is in progress.
