Birkenhead man jailed for drugs offences

A MAN from Wirral has been sentenced to 40 months in prison after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

Kian Banks, aged 23, of Alwen Street, Birkenhead was jailed at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, June 21 2024 for being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs between February 19 and April 15 2024.

Sergeant Pete Hanson, one of the officers involved in EVOLVE Wirral, said: “Drugs cause an abundance of harm and misery to individuals and wider communities.

“We are dedicated to taking those involved in selling drugs off our streets and getting help for those suffering from addictions.

“To make the greatest impact we need information from the public about those involved in drug-related activity such as where it is being stored, who is selling and buying them, and any other information that could be relevant so we can safeguard vulnerable individuals and put those causing harm behind bars.”

EVOLVE Wirral is one of three Clear, Hold, Build projects taking place in Merseyside to help rebuild communities most affected by serious and organised crime.

EVOLVE is a holistic, multi-agency approach to tackling organised crime and the effect it has on our communities.

Along with our partners we are committed to improving the lives of people who live in the EVOLVE estates and have already significantly disrupted those involved in serious and organised crime in Wirral.

Sgt Hanson added: “We are aware that this work is ongoing but along with our partners we will be steadfast in our approach to our work clamping down on criminality and protecting our communities. 

“We must continue to work together with residents, community groups and partners as this issue cannot be tackled by the police alone.

“To support this work, we need information from our communities which can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers and we are particularly keen to hear about drug dealing, weapons storage, vehicle crime and anti-social behaviour.
