We can confirm that a man has been charged with possession of a firearm following an incident in Wavertree on Sunday 28 April.
At around 6pm, officers attended a property on Mill Lane when they discovered a suspected firearm, which was seized for forensic testing and later confirmed as a viable weapon.
Jamie Crawford, 18, of Mill Lane, Wavertree, has been charged with possession of a firearm and receiving stolen goods. He appeared at South Sefton Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Tuesday 30 April) and was remanded into custody until his next appearance at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday 28 May.
Detective Inspector John Mullen said: “We are committed to taking firearms off our streets and, rest assured, if you tell us about any suspected possession or offences we will take action.
“Merseyside Police pro-actively investigates serious organised crime including the use of guns and the supply and distribution of drugs on Merseyside and is relentless in its pursuit of offenders.
“We will always take immediate action to incidents involving guns and we are actively working to make Merseyside a safer place to live and work.
“Information from the public is vital if we are to breakdown the organised crime groups who bring misery to our streets.”
