We have issued a CCTV image of a man who we believe could have information after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted on a bus in Liverpool city centre.
At around 5.30pm on Monday 1 October, the victim was sat at the back of an Arriva 82 service travelling from St John’s Shopping Centre when she was approached by an unknown man.
The man sat next to her and they spoke briefly before he then sexually assaulted her as she stood up and tried to walk away.
The girl then went to the lower deck of the bus and waited until the man got off the bus, which was at a stop near KFC, on Speke Road, in Garston.
We were contacted following the incident and an investigation is ongoing, which includes CCTV inquiries.
Detective Constable Susan Parsons said: “This was clearly a very distressing incident for the teenage girl and we are supporting her as we continue to investigate this incident.
“We would like to speak to the man pictured as we believe he could help with our enquiries and I would urge anyone who recognises him gets in touch.
“There were other people on the bus at the time of the incident, so if you can remember what happened or witnessed anything, please let us know.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 101, DM @MerPolCC on social media or Crimestoppers anonymously quoting reference 24000840786.
