A Liverpool man has been sentenced to more than five years in prison for firearms and drug offences.
On 26 July officers were on patrol along Everton Road when they saw a man acting suspiciously in Grant Gardens, Islington. Officers detained the man and following a search of the area located a pistol, bullets, drugs and cash.
Sonny Daley, 18 years, of Tordelow Close in Everton, was charged with Possession of a firearm, Possession of ammunition, Possession with intent to supply class A drugs – Heroin, Possession with intent to supply class A drugs – Cocaine, and Possession of criminal property.
At an earlier court hearing Daley pleaded guilty and today, Tuesday 1 October, at Liverpool Crown Court he was sentenced to five years and four months in prison for all the offences.
Following the sentencing Detective Inspector John Mullen said: “We’re pleased that this weapon and ammunition is off the streets and prevent the devastation that these types of weapons can cause. Daley will now spend a period of time behind bars.”
Merseyside Police pro-actively investigates serious organised crime including the use of guns and the supply and distribution of drugs on Merseyside.
Detective Inspector Mullen added: “We are committed to removing guns, knives and all dangerous weapons from our streets and putting the people who carry them before the courts.
“We have also carried out regular stop searches, warrants and open land searches to locate weapons and ensure those who store, carry and use them are brought to justice.
“It is vital that members of our communities come forward with information so we can make our communities safer for the decent, law-abiding people who live in areas affected by gun crime.
“If you have any information about anyone carrying or using a dangerous weapon in your area please don’t hesitate to contact us.”
If you have got any information about the use or storage of weapons please DM @MerPolCC or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
