We are appealing for information following a serious collision in Grassendale today (Tuesday 1 April).
Shortly before 5.55pm, emergency services were called to the junction of Aigburth Road and Grassendale Road to reports of a collision involving a grey VW Polo car and a five-year-old boy pedestrian.
The boy has been taken to hospital where his injuries are described as serious but not life threatening.
The car stopped at the scene.
Officers are speaking to potential witnesses and exploring CCTV opportunities in the area to establish the circumstances of the collision.
Chief Inspector Phil Thompson said: “This would have been a distressing incident for anyone who witnessed it, and we are grateful for members of the public who provided medical attention at the scene immediately after the collision.
“The boy is now receiving further treatment in hospital where his condition is not described as life threatening.
"Aigburth Road is a busy road and we would be keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or who may have dashcam footage to get in touch.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact our Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit on (0151) 777 5747, email [email protected], or DM @MerPolCC with reference 790 of 1 April 2025.
