A woman has been arrested after a man was reportedly assaulted in Liverpool city centre on Monday evening (21 April).
Emergency services were called to Mathew Street at 10.10pm where it was reported a man in his 20s had sustained a small puncture wound to the torso, described as superficial by paramedics, and cuts to his hands after being assaulted with a sharp implement.
North West Ambulance Service attended but the man declined treatment and left the scene.
Officers then located the man but he declined to co-operate.
A 27-year-old woman from Dingle was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent (Section 18). She has been taken into custody to be questioned.
A small kitchen knife has been seized.
Officers have spoken to witnesses at the scene and are exploring CCTV opportunities in the area.
Detective Inspector Jay Boardman said: “This incident happened in the city centre, and we know there would have been people out enjoying the Bank Holiday who may have witnessed it. If you have any information, however small it may seem, please contact police.
“Merseyside Police is committed to tackling knife crime and bringing those prepared to carry and use knives to justice. We conduct stop searches, warrants and land searches all year round to take such weapons out of circulation and continue to appeal for the public’s help to tell us who is storing and carrying them.”
