Increased reports of burglaries targeting e-bikes and motorbikes in Wirral

We are urging homeowners in Wirral to be vigilant following a recent spate of burglaries targeting e-bikes and motorbikes.

Over the past month, we have received reports of garages or outbuildings being broken into at addresses in Newton, Moreton, Greasby and Birkenhead.

While enquiries are ongoing into all these incidents, officers are urging residents to take important steps to protect their home. This includes looking at the possibility of getting CCTV or doorbell cameras, as well as alarms and better lighting to help reduce the chances of becoming victims of burglary.

Detective Sergeant Jon Head said: “Sadly we have seen increased reports of e-bikes and motorbikes being stolen from homes and we want local residents to be vigilant.

“We know parents want to give their children something special at Christmas and may have already bought legal and safe e-bikes, but remember to keep them secure.

“We want to encourage the safe and legal use of e-bikes and scooters, but please make sure they are protected from burglars. Being a victim of burglary has a massive impact on the families affected as they have had their home invaded which is an awful experience to go through.

“I would continue to encourage people to reports any suspicious behaviour so we can take action and we will act on information we receive.

“We also urge people to come forward if you know anything about suspected burglary and the sale of stolen goods where you are. We’ll act on all information provided."

Merseyside Police’s Winter of Action, taking place between 1 December and 31 January 2026, is a major policing push to keep town centres safe during and beyond the festive season by tackling crime, including burglary, reassuring communities, and ensuring our high streets are welcoming and safe for everyone.
