We are appealing for information following a report of a bike robbery in a Greasby park yesterday evening, Tuesday 28 January.
We received a report just before 5pm that two boys aged 12 and 13 years were riding their bikes in Coronation Park when three older males approached them and asked where they were from. One offender then lifted his top to intimate a weapon was concealed. However, no weapon was seen but it caused fear to the two child victims.
The three offenders, who were wearing balaclavas, then stole their bikes and rode off towards the allotments.
No injuries were reported but the two victims were shaken by the incident.
Police attended and carried out a search of the area. Enquiries are ongoing including CCTV enquiries, and detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The two stolen bikes were a black Carrera Hellcat in blue writing and a black Scott bike with green writing.
Detective Inspector Sarah Wilkinson said: “This was a frightening incident for the young victims to experience and thankfully they were not injured.
“I urge anyone who was in the vicinity between 4.30pm and 5pm yesterday and may have noticed three males acting suspicious to please contact us so we can bring the offenders to justice.
“I would urge residents and motorists to please check your CCTV and dashcam footage to see if it may have captured something which will help the investigation.
“Any information no matter how small, could be vital to the investigation and get them brought to justice.
“I would also urge anyone who may see the two bikes for sale to please contact us.”
