We continue to appeal for information following the robbery of an elderly woman in her own home in Stockbridge Village last week.
The victim, aged in her 80s, has suffered poor health since the incident and continues to be seriously impacted both physically and mentally.
Although we have arrested a 56-year-old man from Stockbridge Village on suspicion of robbery, we are still asking anyone with information to come forward to help the ongoing investigation.
At around 7am on Thursday 30 January, an unknown man entered the home of the pensioner, on Spruce Grove, threw her on the floor and stole a quantity of cash.
Following inquiries, a man was arrested and has been bailed on this matter, but recalled to prison for breaching his conditions with regards to a previous offence.
Detective Inspector Kev O’Rourke said: “This was an extremely serious incident and we continue to make inquiries so we can get justice for this poor woman.
“To enter the home of an elderly woman, attack her and then steal her money is absolutely appalling and I’m sure the community in Stockbridge Village are just as repulsed by this incident as we are.
“Sadly, she has been badly affected by this incident and is really suffering both physically and mentally by what happened.
“We will leave no stone unturned in this investigation and we are still appealing for anyone with information to please come forward.
“We’re particularly keen to speak to anyone who lives in the vicinity of Spruce Grove and saw anyone acting suspiciously at between around 7-9am on Thursday 30 January. We’d be grateful if those living in the area check CCTV, dashcam or doorbell devices, as they may hold vital evidence to find the person responsible and remove him from the community.”
