We can confirm that a man has been charged following a knifepoint robbery of two e-bikes in Norris Green.
On Saturday 26 April, it was reported that a man was threatened with a bladed weapon on Morningside Road and had two expensive Sur-Ron electric bikes stolen.
Following ongoing inquiries into the incident, Dean Gibbons, 31, of Circular Road East, in West Derby, has been charged with robbery, possession of a knife/blade/sharp pointed article in a public place and possession of a controlled Class B drug (cannabis).
He appeared at Liverpool Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday 3 July) and will next appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday 31 July.
Detective Inspector Steve Street said: “We will thoroughly investigate all robberies, including those targeting electric bikes, as the impact on victims can be considerable.
“I would urge anyone who has an e-bike or is considering buying one to invest in a tracker.
“If your bike has a tracker, we are much more likely to be able to get it back to you if it’s stolen, and it gives us a much better chance of being able to catch the perpetrator – preventing more crime down the line.”
Merseyside Police are encouraging anyone wishing to have their bike marked to visit their Local Policing Facebook page for up-to-date information on when bike marking events are being held.
