We have arrested two men following reports of an assault in Liverpool city centre last night, Monday 14 July.
At around 11.50pm, officers were called to Brunswick Lock, South Ferry Quay to reports of a man in his 50s being assaulted. The victim was taken to hospital for assessment of head injuries. He is in a stable condition.
As part of enquiries, two men were later detained in a vehicle on Riverside Drive, Aigburth.

Both men remain in custody for questioning. House-to-house, witness, CCTV and forensic work is being carried out at the scene and we would like to speak to anyone with information.
Detective Inspector Steve Street said: "Our enquiries are in their early stages as we look to establish what happened. If you live in the area of South Ferry Quay or were passing by, please come forward with any information, CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage which could be vital.
"Violence will never be tolerated in Merseyside and we will take positive action to remove those people from our communities.
