We arrested two men after suspects seen riding motorbikes on pavements, through red lights and at speed were tracked using CCTV in Liverpool city centre.
The Honda CBR 600 motorbike came to the attention of patrols at 4.40pm on Thursday 19 June in the area of Childwall Valley Road, were it was being ridden dangerously with two males on board.
With the assistance of the National Police Air Service helicopter, Roads Policing patrols were directed to the suspects – who had also gone onto the loopline - and police motorbikes pursued the bike to the city centre.
The offenders were seen to leave the Honda under the steps at Queens Square Bus Station (see image) before making off on foot and boarding a bus.
With the assistance of Citywatch CCTV cameras, their movements were tracked and the men were detained by officers.
A 27-year-old man from Huyton and a 23-year-old man of no fixed address were arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and dangerous driving.
They were taken into custody for questioning where they remain.

Chief Inspector Stuart McIver said: “People who drive or ride vehicles on our roads and pavements in a dangerous manner risk the safety and indeed the lives of other road users as well as themselves.
“Such behaviour will never be tolerated in Merseyside, and we will use all the tools and resources at our disposal to ensure it is stopped before anyone is hurt and the perpetrators brought to justice.
“By far the best scenario is for this criminality to be stopped before offenders get on a bike, so that incidents can be prevented from happening in the first place.
“Our communities can play a vital role in that by telling us where any illegal off road bikes, electric bikes or stolen motorbikes are being stored so that we can carry out enquiries and warrants to take them out of circulation.”
