Detectives in St Helens have re-arrested a man in connection with a stabbing last year.
At around 10.15pm on Monday 2 September 2024, officers were called to Pennine Drive to reports that a 14-year-old boy had been stabbed by two male offenders, who reportedly ran off into nearby Gaskell Park.
A 20-year-old man from Newton-le-Willows had been arrested in connection with the incident and was released on conditional bail. He has now been re-arrested on suspicion of Attempted murder; Witness intimidation; and Possession of cannabis.
He was taken to a police station for questioning.
An 18-year-old man from Warrington remains on conditional bail in relation to the investigation. He was previously arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent.
DCI Ben Wayment said: “The victim continues to recover from his injuries, and our enquiries remain ongoing. We would encourage witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
“We know that there are still likely to have been witnesses to this incident who have yet to speak to us, and I would urge each and every one of those people to make themselves known. Staying silent when you hold information on this incident should not be an option, so do the right thing and come forward.”
