Officers have charged a Liverpool man with multiple shop theft offences as part of an ongoing investigation.
Christopher Chatterton, 43, of no fixed abode, was arrested this week and has been charged with ten Theft shop offences and one Common assault.
The incidents were at Morrisons on Besford Road, Belle Vale; NISA Local on Hunts Cross Avenue, Woolton; Sainsbury's on James Road, Woolton; and Aldi on Gateacre Park Drive, Woolton.
Chatterton had been circulated wanted as part of enquiries. He has been released on conditional bail and will next appear at court on Friday 20 June.
Sergeant Steve Hunter said: "We work closely with businesses in the community to ensure that they are supported in such investigations. Owners and members of staff can be assured that we will not tolerate incidents which subject them to theft and violence when at work."
