Six males from Knowsley have been arrested in connection with two robberies on Saturday 17 May.

At around 8.30pm it was reported that a man in his 20s had walked into a medical centre in Huyton after being slashed in his arm by five males dressed in black riding Sur-ron motorbikes. They then stole his black Boardman electric bike.

A second report was received at 9pm that five males had threatened a 13-year-old boy on Allerton Road in Woolton and stolen his a blue mountain electric bike then left.

The blue bike had a tracker which was traced on Cassino Road in Huyton.

Officers attended and detained a group of males outside a shop on Cassino Road with one suspect hiding inside. The stolen blue mountain electric bike was found at the scene.

Six males aged 19, 18 and 17 years from Huyton and Stockbridge Village were arrested on suspicion of two counts of robbery and Section 18 wounding. They have been released on police bail with conditions.

Officers carried out a search of a property in Huyton and located two Sur-ron bikes within the kitchen area and a machete hidden behind one of the bikes.

A 17-year-old male from Huyton was further arrested on suspicion of two counts of theft and possession of an offensive weapon in a dwelling.

Knowsley Superintendent Karl Baldwin said: “In both instances the victims were very shaken by the robberies, with one sustaining a slash wound which thankfully wasn’t life threatening.

“I would advise people who have bikes to consider purchasing a tracking device, as in this instance we were able to trace the blue bike and arrest six males. A tracking device can provide peace of mind to the owner that there is a chance in recovering the stolen bike.

“In addition we have trojan bikes in the force as part of a range of tactics to track suspects and those involved in criminality.

“Although we have made six arrests in connection with the two robberies our enquiries continue, and we would urge anyone who witnessed both incidents, or captured either on dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage to please contact us as it may prove vital to the investigation.”

Superintendent Baldwin added: “We are absolutely committed to targeting those who bring misery to our communities and getting knives and offensive weapons off our streets.

“Our officers are committed in removing anyone who stores, carries and uses weapons through proactive use of stop and search powers, open land searches, warrants and education work alongside partners.

“The use of knives and any weapons is reckless and will not be tolerated, and can have devastating consequences, not only for the victim and their family but also for the offenders involved.

“I would urge people to educate themselves and speak to their children and family members about the dangers of knife crime.

“We continue to seek out those involved in knife crime, enticing young and vulnerable people to carry weapons or involved in gangs.”
