Officers have recovered two electric bikes which were reported stolen in robberies in Liverpool.
Yesterday evening, Tuesday 25 November, officers were on patrol along the Loop Line in Walton when they pursued two suspected bike thieves, and in the process they recovered two electric bikes.
One bike, an orange Giant pedal-assisted electric bike, was reportedly robbed on Monday (24 November) by three males who threatened three youths and stole two bikes outside Aldi on Lorenzo Drive, Norris Green.
The second grey and green electric bike was from a robbery on Rice Lane earlier in the evening (Tuesday 25 November) where two males threatened a man with a knife and stole his bike.
Liverpool Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Andrew Fielding said: “The Loop Line and surrounding areas are a part of our ongoing proactive work targeting bike robberies, and our enquiries are ongoing into the robberies to arrest the offenders.
“Operation Gears is Merseyside Police’s response to the illegal use of bike including electric and electrically assisted bikes by criminals. Since its launch in July 2025, officers have seized around a thousand illegal two-wheeled vehicles. These vehicles are increasingly linked to serious criminal activity, including violence, robberies, and serious organised crime (SOC) offences.”
