The victim, a 50-year-old man, has been taken to hospital for treatment.
A 54-year-old man from Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent, and a 76 year old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. They are still in police custody to be questioned.
