Detectives have issued a CCTV image of a man who could assist with their enquiries following of a report of an assault inside a Liverpool city centre pub.
At around 7.10pm on Saturday 28 March, we received a report from Northwest Ambulance Service that a man had been assaulted by two men in The Blarney Stone pub on Renshaw Street, resulting in him being knocked unconscious in an unprovoked attack. The two offenders then made off.
The victim, a man in his 70s, sustained significant injury to his head, and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted, and detectives have issued a CCTV image of a man they believe could assist in their investigation.
Detective Inspector Paula Jones said: “This was a cowardly assault which left the victim with a serious head injury, and he spent a few days in hospital. He continues to recover from the assault.
“With this, I urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has information which can help with our investigation to please contact us.
“I am appealing to the man featured in the image, or anyone who recognises him, to come forward We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
