A male has been arrested after an illegal high-powered electric motorbike was being ridden dangerously in Toxteth yesterday afternoon, Monday 20 April.
Officers were on patrol when they sighted a male on a Sur-ron electric motorbike riding dangerously along Granby Street, Mulgrave Street and Kingsley Road, and doing wheelies on the pavement on Granby Street.
A 16-year-old male from Toxteth was arrested on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving without a licence and no insurance.
He has been released on bail pending further enquiries and the suspected stolen Su-ron bike was recovered.
Roads Policing Inspector Carl McNulty said: “Officers witnessed the motorbike being riding at speed on and off pavements which posed a serious risk to other road users and pedestrians.
“In addition, a local primary school was nearby and it was the time of day where children were walking home.
“I urge the public to report any illegal or unsafe use of electric bikes, scooters, or motorcycles. Your information helps us take action and keep our communities safe.”
