Officers extend stop and search order in Sefton

We have extended a stop search order in Netherton and Bootle following a recent incident of violence in the area.

The Section 60 Order will now be extended until 3:59pm on Saturday 4 April and extra officers will remain in the area to provide a visible presence to prevent crime or serious violence.

This order covers the area bounded in the map and includes Ormskirk Road, Park Lane, Bridle Road, Bailey Drive, Linacre Lane, Crosby Road South, Cambridge Road, Brook Vale, perimeter of Rimrose Valley Country Park down to Lydiate Lane, Northern Perimeter Road to Switch Island, and all roads within this area.

Sefton Area Commander Karl Baldwin said: “This order has been extended following a serious incident in Bootle and is intended to help keep everyone safe.

“The order enables officers to search people they suspect are carrying weapons, and provide reassurance to the community so that they can feel safe in the knowledge we are proactively putting measures in place.

“The use of knives and any weapons is reckless and will not be tolerated in our community. I hope that the presence of officers on our streets is reassuring, and I would ask anyone with concerns to speak to those officers.

 “If you witness any criminal behaviour, or have any information about such incidents, please contact or speak to our officers and we will take action.”
