** UPDATE**
We have arrested a 42-year-old man following an incident in Newton-le-Willows last night, Wednesday 1 April.
Emergency services were called to a property on The Avenue at 7.30pm following reports of a male acting erratically.
Officers attended to speak to the man and he was eventually detained and arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, common assault, assault by beating of an emergency worker and affray.
The man is currently in custody.

Emergency services are this evening, Wednesday 1 April, at a property in Newton-le-Willows following reports of a male acting erratically.
Officers were called to a property on The Avenue at 7.30pm.
There is currently a cordon in place while officers attempt to speak to the male and motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area while the matter is being dealt with.
