Man arrested after car stolen in Greater Manchester

A man has been arrested after a car was stolen in Greater Manchester in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday 4 August.

At around 2.30am it was reported that a grey Nissan Navara was stolen after a house was broken into in Ashton-in-Makerfield.

Officers on patrol sighted the stolen vehicle and detained a man in a Kirkby housing estate.

Thanks to the help of PD Turbo and his handler the stolen car was found on Rowan Drive.

A 36-year-old man from Fazakerley was arrested on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle, going equipped for theft and driving while disqualified. He is still in police custody for questioning.

Inspector Simon Wilson said: “This was a really good result and working in partnership with Greater Manchester Police to recover the stolen car.

“Police dog Turbo did some great work, especially as he was injured yesterday  but was back on duty today catching criminals.

"Being a victim of burglary has a massive impact on the families affected as they have had their home invaded which is an awful experience to go through.

“I would continue to encourage people to reports any suspicious behaviour so we can take action and we will act on information we receive.

“We also urge people to come forward if you know anything about suspected burglary and the sale of stolen goods where you are. We’ll act on all information provided.”
