A man has been charged after a house was burgled in St Helens last month.
On 24 July it was reported that a house was broken into on Prescot Road and a door had been damaged in the process. It was reported that nothing was stolen.
Officers attended and following enquiries a man was located and arrested on suspicion of burglary on Tuesday 11 August.
Yesterday (Wednesday 12 August) Ian Knowles, 49 years, of Prescot Road in St Helens, has been charged with burglary with intent to steal.
He will appear at Wirral Adult Remand Court today, Thursday 13 August.
This summer, Merseyside Police is encouraging residents to look at their homes through a ‘thief’s eyes’ and identify issues that could make them a target for burglary.
