Four people were arrested yesterday (Monday 2 February) after officers witnessed a bag being dropped from a pub window in Bootle.

At around 10.35am officers noticed a woman waiting under a pub window when a black bag was dropped out of it to her. After a short conversation the woman left the scene in a black MG car.

A short time later officers stopped the car on Hawthorne Road and found the black bag containing a large quantity of small black bags of cannabis.

Two women aged 39 and 21 years from Netherton were arrested on suspicion of Possession with intent to Supply B drugs (cannabis) and acquire/use /possess criminal property.

The 39-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife blade.

Following this a search was carried out at an address in Netherton where more cannabis bags were located, along with scales, bags and money. An 18-year-old man being arrested on suspicion of Possession with intent to Supply controlled Class B drugs (cannabis) and acquire/use/possess criminal property.

Officers also conducted a search of the pub where a small amount of cannabis, two golf ball size bags of white powder (suspected to be cocaine) and unlabelled yellow tablets believed to be prescription drugs, scales, bags, tick lists and money were found.

A 50-year-old woman from Litherland was arrested on suspicion of Possession with intent to Supply controlled Class A, B and C drugs (suspected cocaine, cannabis and multiple unidentified prescription tablets) and Possession of criminal property.

The four suspects have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Michelle Butland from Sefton Targeted Policing said: “This is a good result where suspected drug dealing has been uncovered, and four people have been arrested in connection with this.

“Drug dealing is hugely damaging to our communities, and this is part of our proactive work to ensure we take offenders supplying drugs off our streets.

“We rely on information from the public and I would ask our community to be our eyes and ears.

“I would ask anyone who has information about this kind of activity to come forward so action can be taken.”
