A man has been arrested and a suspected stolen Sur-ron bike seized after an incident in Bidston.
At around 4.15pm on Wednesday 25 February, it was reported that a male was riding a bike in a dangerous manner and at one point rode on one wheel near two moving vehicles.
The suspect, who was dressed in all black and wearing a balaclava, was also speeding and using a footpath.
Following enquiries, a male was traced and located inside a nearby home. An 18-year-old man from Bidston has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving without a licence, theft of a motor vehicle and using a motor vehicle without third party insurance. He has been released under investigation.
Local Policing Chief Inspector David Morgan said: “This was fantastic pro-active policing that has not only led to the arrest of a suspect, but also the seizure a suspected stolen vehicle.
“Anti-social behaviour and the criminal use of bikes, including Sur-rons, impacts so many people and has a detrimental effect on people feeling safe where they live.
“While our officers on proactive patrol are always on the lookout for criminality, we also act on any information on the criminal use of such bikes.
“We will deploy all the necessary tactical responses and resources available in order for us to disrupt those who steal them and use them to commit crime, bring them to justice and seize their vehicles.
“I urge the public to report any illegal or unsafe use of electric bikes, scooters, or motorcycles. Your information helps us take action and keep our communities safe.”
