Three teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of burglary after several items were taken from a gym and a bike was stolen from a nearby communal shed in Liverpool early this morning (Thursday 5 February).
At around 1.30am officers received a report that a room and several lockers in Pure Gym on Edge Lane had been opened and ransacked. Officers then received a report of a burglary at an address on Alford Street where three males had been seen taking two pedal bikes from a communal bike shed.
Officers spotted and stopped a 16-year-old boy from Wigan in the surrounding area and arrested him on suspicion of burglary after a mobile phone, a phone charger and two sets of ear pod earphones were found in his pockets.
Two other boys aged 16 and 15 from Wirral were arrested on suspicion of burglary after officers spotted them on Lomond Road. The 15-year-old boy was later arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated and hate related S4A public order after he made abusive threats towards the officers.
All three boys were taken to a police station in Merseyside where they remain in custody.
Detective Inspector Paula Jones said: “Our officers worked together to swiftly arrest three teenage boys who caused significant damage to two properties in Liverpool. These were serious offences that can cause people in our community to feel unsafe where they live.
“I hope these three arrests reassures these residents that we will continue to pursue any type of anti-social behaviour on our streets and bring offenders to justice to prevent further burglaries.
“Although we have made three arrests our investigation is still ongoing so if you have any information on this incident please let us know so we can continue to take action and keep our communities safe.”
