We have arrested four men after rucksacks filled with cannabis and suspected Class A drugs were seized in St Helens yesterday (Tuesday 13 January).
Just after 5.30pm officers spotted three men in a wooded area near Cherwell Avenue after noticing a strong smell of cannabis.
Officers searched the three men and found a bag and a tub of cannabis. When officers searched the area they also found two rucksacks filled with cannabis and a lump of white powder suspected to be cocaine.
Another man who was also in the area was searched by officers who found a large quantity of cash.
Two 27-year-old men from Stockbridge Village and a 60-year-old man from Clock Face were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B and Class A drugs.
A 31-year-old man from Clock Face was also arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property and being concerned in the supply of Class A and B drugs.
They were taken to a police station in Merseyside where they remain in custody.
