We have arrested three men from Litherland after several dismantled bikes and electric scooters were seized on Friday evening (9 January).
Officers received a report that an electric scooter was stolen from an address on Kirk Road in Litherland at around 5.30pm on Friday 9 January. Officers went to an address in the area where the scooter had been seen earlier today.
After searching the address they found 11 bike frames , six bike wheels, one motor bike wheel, two electric scooters, two scooter wheels, 1 mini motor cross and two electric scooter batteries.
Three men from Litherland aged 38, 42 and 32 were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
They were taken to a police station in Merseyside and have since been released under investigation.
Inspector Michelle Butland said: “Several stolen vehicle parts and electric scooters that could have caused disruption on our streets have now been seized thanks to a report we received from a victim of one of these stolen scooters in Litherland.
“Bike thefts like these often fuels wider criminal networks and with more people purchasing electric bikes over the festive period it is now more important than ever to protect them and keep yourself safe by following our guidelines.
“Operation Gears is the campaign targeting the illegal use of electric bikes, e-scooters, and off-road motorcycles linked to serious crime, robberies and antisocial behaviour across the region.
“I hope these three arrests shows that we will continue to swiftly act on any information reported to us to disrupt criminality and make our communities safer.”
