We have arrested two males from Clock Face after two motorbikes were stolen in the Parr area last night (Wednesday 7 January).
Officers received a report that a blue/silver motorcycle was stolen from Latchford in Warrington earlier today at around 2am on Wednesday 7 January. Officers found that one of the bikes had a tracking device which led them to Chester Lane in Clock Face where they saw two males in the area who ran from police but were later detained in the rear garden of a property.
Both bikes that the men were riding were seized near Willow Tree Primary School and on Chester Lane.
Two 17-year-old boys from Clock Face were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, driving without insurance, dangerous driving, and failing to stop.
They have both been taken to a police station in Merseyside where they remain in custody.
Inspector Stacey Pope said: “Fitting your electric bike with a tracking device like the victim of this crime can disrupt criminals who target such bicycles and help us recover stolen items.
“Bike thefts like these often fuels wider criminal networks and with more people purchasing such valuable items it is now more important than ever to protect them and keep yourself safe by following our guidelines.
“Operation Gears is the campaign targeting the illegal use of electric bikes, e-scooters, and off-road motorcycles linked to serious crime, robberies and antisocial behaviour across the region.
“I hope these two arrests shows that we will continue to use every tool available to us to disrupt criminality and make our communities safer.”
