We have released CCTV footage of a man who may have information that could assist with enquiries in an ongoing appeal following a serious assault in Liverpool.
Just before midnight on Saturday 11 April a young man was walking along when a man punched him in an unprovoked attack by Spanish Caravan Club on Slater Street.
The 19-year-old victim was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries which required surgery. The suspect fled the scene.
An investigation has been ongoing since the incident was reported to us, and last month we released images of a man who we think could have information.
Today (Thursday 11 June) we have issued CCTV footage of the same man who we would like to speak to and help with our enquiries.
Detective Inspector Tony Meakins said: “This was a dangerous and reckless attack which left the victim seriously injured and requiring extensive hospital treatment to his face.
“This was an unprovoked incident which has shocked the community and such violence like this will never be tolerated on the streets of Merseyside.
“Our enquiries are ongoing, and we are determined to find the person responsible. This incident took place at a time when it was still busy, so if you were in the vicinity around midnight and witnessed the assault then please contact us.
“It was also the day when Liverpool v Fulham football game was playing at Anfield, so we are looking at all lines of enquiry to find the suspect.
“I am appealing to the man featured in the CCTV footage, or anyone who recognises him to come forward. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
