Detectives have issued a CCTV image of a man who could assist with their enquiries following an attempted robbery in Liverpool city centre.
It was reported that on the morning of Tuesday 9 June, two men approached a food delivery man as he sat outside of Burger King on Lord Street with one picking up his bike and the other his delivery bag before attempting to walk off.
The victim chased after the offenders to retrieve his property but was punched to the face twice during the confrontation, causing him minor injury.
Following a search of the area officers arrested a 41-year-old man, of no fixed address but formerly from Whiston, on suspicion of attempted robbery. He has been released on conditional bail.
Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted, and detectives have issued CCTV a image of a man they believe could assist in their investigation.
Detective Inspector Lee Egerton said: "This was a disgraceful and unprovoked attack on an innocent man who was out working, trying to earn money.
“I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened who has not already spoken to the police or who has CCTV footage of the incident to assist in the investigation.
“I am appealing to the man featured in this image, or anyone who recognises him to come forward. We believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
Anyone who recognises the man in the image or has information on the incident should contact the Merseyside Police social media desk @MerPolCC on X and Facebook quoting reference 26000457908.
