Detectives are appealing for information as part of an ongoing investigation into an arson in Wallasey last month.
At around 10.15pm on Monday 4 May, it was reported that a blue BMW was on fire on Brighton Street. Following a joint investigation with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS), it was determined that the fire had been started deliberately and that an accelerant had been used.
A suspect is believed to have made off down nearby Harrowby Road following the offence.
An investigation has been ongoing since the incident. Detective Inspector Phil Ryan said: “To set a vehicle alight is reckless in the extreme and put anyone in the vicinity at serious risk. We are determined to find the person responsible and enquiries are ongoing.
“We particularly want to speak to anyone who lives in the vicinity of Brighton Street, including Harrowby Road. If you saw the incident or potentially captured a suspect making off, check any devices and let us know. Our enquiries also indicate that a suspect may have discarded a patrol can used in the offence. If you live locally and have seen such an item in your yard, garden or elsewhere, please let us know.”
