We can confirm that a man has been arrested following an incident in Huyton yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 16 June.
At 3.10pm, officers were called to Gentwood Road to reports of a man in the street, allegedly with his trousers down.
A 56-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Outraging public decency and suspected theft of bank cards. He has been taken to a police station for questioning.
Officers will be in the area to gather information and provide reassurance.
Detective Chief Inspector Cath Cummings said: “We are still investigating the exact circumstances of this incident and if you have any information and have not yet spoken to police, please do so. We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who lives in Gentwood Road and has doorbell or other footage.
"Please come forward via our official channels, as commenting on social media can impede our work. Thank you.”
