Update at 5.30pm: EOD have assessed the device and it is no further threat to the public. The scene has now been stood down.

We can confirm that officers are currently in Billinge following the discovery of a suspicious item inside a house today, Saturday 20 June.
Just after 2.15pm officers were called after suspected unexploded ordnance device was found while clearing the property on Larch Close.
As a precaution, Larch Close has been closed and residents in the close have been asked to remain indoors.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) have been called to assess the device.
Motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident.
